5th Suspect Arrested in Philadelphia Bus Stop Injuring of 8 Teens

A fifth suspect has been arrested in the shooting of eight high school students at a transit bus stop in Northeast Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore said 15-year-old Jeremiah Jefferson identified some of the gunmen’s potential targets in a nearby car before the March 6 shooting and sent a description.

Jeremiah alerted the gunmen as the accused walked towards the bus which was seen in the video footage.

The incident happened around 3pm when the Northeast High School students were waiting to board the bus. Police said there were more than 3,000 students and three masked men opened fire as they boarded the bus.

Of the eight people shot, a 16-year-old was shot nine times and was critically injured, police said.

City police said the injured students were aged between 15 and 17 and the motive behind the shooting was not yet known. Investigators are trying to determine if this serious attack is connected to other crimes.

Jermahd Carter, 19, Jamaal Tucker, 18, and Ahnile Buggs, 18, were arrested earlier this month, and Asir Boone, 17, was arrested on Tuesday.

Buggs and Tucker are being held on more than $2 million bail.
